DSS charges social media user over alleged fake letter linking President Tinubu to US drug case
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned a social media user, Mubarak Abdullahi, over an alleged forged letter linking President Bola Tinubu to a past drug-related case in Chicago, United States.
According to SaharaReporters, Abdullahi appeared before a magistrate court in Kabala Doki, Kaduna State, on Monday, approximately two weeks after his arrest.
He was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
The case reportedly concerns a purported letter dated September 19, 2026, addressed to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
The document, titled “Request for Goodwill and Diplomatic Engagement Regarding My Past Drug-Related Case in Chicago,” allegedly sought diplomatic intervention from the United Nations and United States President Donald Trump.
Reports circulating online claimed the letterhead and signature were forged, while a copy obtained by SaharaReporters appeared AI-generated.
However, the specific charges against Abdullahi remain undisclosed.
The court is expected to begin hearing the matter this week, although further details of the prosecution’s allegations have not been released.
