EFCC prosecutes Kano man for allegedly diverting N34.8m meant for spaghetti
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a Kano businessman, Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi, over alleged misappropriation of N34.875 million intended for purchasing spaghetti.
According to Daily Post, Nazifi appeared before Justice Musa Karaye of the Kano State High Court on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The defendant faces a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation involving funds belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji.
Prosecutors alleged that between September and October 2024, the money was transferred into a First Bank account belonging to Muazu Abdullahi on Nazifi’s instructions.
The funds were reportedly meant to purchase IRS Spaghetti from BUA but were allegedly diverted for personal use.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 308 of Kano State’s Penal Code Law and is punishable under Section 309.
Nazifi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read.
Prosecution counsel Mustapha Maiwada subsequently requested a trial date and the defendant’s remand.
Justice Karaye ordered his remand in a correctional facility and adjourned proceedings until November 2, 2026.
