Unnamed Ekiti Government House sources have accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his associates of orchestrating the October 30 attack on Omoyele Sowore, allegations the state government has previously denied and which remain unverified.

Sources within the Ekiti State Government House have accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji of orchestrating the October 30 attack on human rights activist Omoyele Sowore and his team in Ado-Ekiti.

According to SaharaReporters, the unnamed sources alleged on Wednesday that the assault was planned following Sowore’s criticism of the governor’s administration.

One source identified a retired police officer, Marcus, as allegedly coordinating Rapid Response Squad operatives who monitored the incident without intervening.

“Those behind the attack have been determined to deal with him since his last visit to Ekiti, when he publicly stated that Oyebanji had done nothing for the people of the state.”

The allegations remain unverified.

The Ekiti State Government previously denied involvement and called for an investigation.

Meanwhile, police have arraigned 11 suspects over the attack.

Sowore rejected the arrests as a cover-up, demanding the prosecution of those who allegedly sponsored and coordinated the assault.
