El-Rufai breaks silence on friends who abandoned him amid ordeal

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he bears no resentment towards former colleagues, friends and associates who have remained silent amid his current circumstances.

El-Rufai, in a statement titled “My Relationships and the Aftermath,” said his decision to support people and causes in the past was guided by his faith, upbringing, personal values and conscience, rather than expectations of reciprocity.

He said those he had previously supported were free to make their own choices, including speaking for him, remaining silent or distancing themselves from him. According to him, “adversity has a way of illuminating relationships,” adding that his experience over the past few months may lead him to reassess some relationships.

According to Daily Trust, the former governor, who has criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as a witch-hunt, said he was not seeking revenge or retribution. He added that he would leave ultimate accountability to Almighty Allah and remain guided by his conscience.
