El-Rufai’s family defends Sanusi over ‘betrayal’ claims

The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai has dismissed claims that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, abandoned him amid his ongoing legal troubles.

Daily Post reports that El-Rufai’s wife, Asia Mohammed Ahmad, made the clarification while reacting to Professor Farooq Kperogi’s article, “Sanusi and the Betrayal of El-Rufai.”

She said the Emir had remained supportive of the family and urged people to stop linking Sanusi to the issues raised by El-Rufai.

“I want to clarify that HH is with us and Mallam’s post has nothing to do with HRH SLS, so pls stop alluding to things that you don’t know!”

El-Rufai’s son, Bello, also defended Sanusi, saying, “indeed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi, remains our Father and he truly stand with Us”.

Some commenters argued that Sanusi, as a traditional ruler, had limited power to intervene in El-Rufai’s case.

One commenter, Muhammad Bello, described Kperogi’s article as “simply goofing”, arguing that the Emir was controlled by the Kano State Government.
