Emir of Katsina: Tinubu govt is about him, his wife, his son and bank account…

The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, says the federal government prioritises only President Bola Tinubu, his wife, son and bank account, describing its “Renewed Hope Agenda” as “renewed hunger.”

He also criticised APC members for engaging in political disputes ahead of the 2027 elections while insecurity continues to threaten communities.

“You are fighting each other in APC—Governor Dikko Radda vs former Governor Masari vs former Governor Aminu Bello Masari supporters vs Abuja boys. All fighting for 2027 tickets while bandits are in Batsari, in Jibia, and in Safana, killing people. Is that not selfishness? Your people are dying; you are fighting for a ticket,” Mr Usman said.

The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, has sharply criticised the federal government and APC politicians during a visit by Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Peoples Gazette reports, citing a video of the encounter.

Speaking in Hausa, the emir accused politicians of seeking prayers and support every four years and disappearing to Abuja and Lagos after elections. He said politics had shifted from community service to a pursuit of personal interests, and described the “Renewed Hope Agenda” as “renewed hunger.”

“Every four years you come to my palace with a cap in hand, asking for prayers, asking for support. After the election, you disappear to Abuja, to Lagos. You don’t come back until the next election,” the emir said in Hausa.

He also faulted APC members in Katsina for fighting over 2027 tickets while bandits kill people in Batsari, Jibia and Safana. Usman claimed banditry had shut about 52 schools and kept farmers off their land in about 12 local government areas, and said residents pay ransoms of N10 million or N20 million to bandit leader Bello Turji.

He asked Tinubu’s entourage where Turji is, saying he is in a forest 100km away, and told them to bring him in before campaigning.

The emir warned that voters would accept rice and cash but vote as they choose, recalling that Katsina people split their votes in 2023.

The report carried no response from the APC or Yari. The claims are the emir’s own and were not independently verified.
