EUROPE: Seven teams still unbeaten domestically as 2026-27 season gathers pace

Seven teams across Europe’s top leagues remain unbeaten domestically as the 2026-27 season gathers momentum, raising the prospect of an Invincibles campaign, Punch reports.

Notably, none of the unbeaten sides come from Ligue 1 or the Premier League, with Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga providing the remaining contenders.

Reigning Serie A champions Inter have made an impressive start under Cristian Chivu, winning six of their opening seven league matches and scoring 21 goals, though nine goals conceded point to defensive concerns. Roma, chasing their first Scudetto since 2001-02 under Gian Piero Gasperini, have remained unbeaten despite surrendering two-goal leads against Inter and Real Madrid, while Lazio, under Gennaro Gattuso, have impressed with six wins from seven, including a stunning 3-0 away win over Juventus.

AC Milan, managed by Ruben Amorim, remain unbeaten but have drawn three of their opening seven matches, raising questions about consistency, compounded by a 3-0 Europa League defeat to Bournemouth. Barcelona’s perfect run across all competitions ended with a 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, though their domestic record remains intact ahead of a crucial El Clasico test against Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich continue their familiar domestic dominance under Vincent Kompany, scoring seven against Union Berlin and six against RB Leipzig, despite draws against Schalke and Augsburg. Borussia Dortmund, seeking their first title since 2011-12 under Jurgen Klopp, started strongly with four consecutive wins but have since stalled with back-to-back draws, allowing Bayern to pull ahead.

While all seven sides remain unbeaten, their varying levels of consistency suggest that turning draws into victories, rather than merely avoiding defeat, will determine which, if any, can sustain a genuine title challenge through to May.
