FBI agent pushed for criminal case against Musk over DOGE email
According to The Washington Times, a former FBI special agent pushed colleagues last year to open a criminal investigation into Elon Musk after his Department of Government Efficiency asked federal workers to list weekly accomplishments.
The outlet reports the agent, Kevin Gounaud, accused Musk of wasting employee time and breaching security policy, and suggested Musk improperly profited by sharing government information on X.
The Washington Times notes Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley released the 2025 email Tuesday, framing it as part of a broader pattern of FBI resistance to Trump allies. No investigation was ultimately opened, and Musk left DOGE in May 2025, per the report.
