FIFA sacks top official Kevin Lamour after criticism of Gianni Infantino
FIFA has parted ways with Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour less than three weeks after he criticised President Gianni Infantino over the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal. Lamour reportedly described the project as the “project of one person” and accused FIFA’s administration of being deceived.
The plan was dropped following opposition from UEFA, Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation, with UEFA reportedly threatening a World Cup boycott. According to BBC Sport and Punch Newspapers, Lamour’s departure comes as Infantino faces growing opposition to his bid for a fourth term, although several confederations, including CAF, remain supportive.
