Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan seeks government help to sustain ₦8bn film village investment
Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has called on the government to support his KAP Village film resort after investing more than ₦8 billion of his personal funds in the facility, according to Tribune Online. Speaking on the Nidacity podcast hosted by former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, Afolayan said the resort had never had electricity, forcing him to rely on costly diesel to sustain operations.
He disclosed that about ₦200 million had been spent on a renewable energy project, though this remained insufficient to power the entire village. Afolayan said the scale of his investment warranted government support, noting that other beneficiaries of grants had invested far less.
He added that accommodation was expanded after cast and crew struggled to find lodging during the filming of Anikulapo.
