Fire kills dozens of schoolchildren in rebel-held DR Congo city
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board has approved renaming Nashville International Airport in honour of late country music star Dolly Parton, according to The Punch, citing WZTV.
The board voted unanimously on Friday to approve the move for the Tennessee-born singer, who died on August 25 at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Discussions centred on the renaming’s impact on branding and marketing, with officials yet to disclose the project’s cost; a 2025 assessment of a failed Trump International Airport proposal estimated such a change could cost about $10.3 million.
The authority will now work with the Dollywood Foundation on the rebrand, following an earlier push by Governor Bill Lee to honour Parton this way.
