Florentino Perez to skip El Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou amid strained institutional relations
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will not attend Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo. His absence also rules out the traditional pre-match lunch between the two boards, removing a long-standing protocol surrounding the fixture.
According to Barca Universal, the decision stems from strained institutional relations, which have severely deteriorated since Real Madrid began publicly pursuing the Negreira case. While Real Madrid will still maintain representation in the VIP box—expected to be led by a vice-president—presidential contact with Barcelona counterpart Joan Laporta is completely off the table.
Beyond executive tension and Jose Mourinho’s return, the match will feature commercial highlights, with artist Tyler.
