Florian Wirtz handed clear Liverpool role as Klopp and Iraola agree
Liverpool playmaker Florian Wirtz is set to continue in his preferred No.10 role when he returns to club action, with manager Andoni Iraola and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp seemingly in agreement over his best position. According to Liverpool.com, Wirtz enjoyed an encouraging international break with Germany, scoring against Serbia and captaining his country.
Klopp also praised the midfielder during his time with the national team. Iraola has previously stated that he prefers Wirtz centrally rather than on the left wing, despite suggestions Liverpool could change his position. The German now has an opportunity to respond to recent criticism when Liverpool face Manchester City on Sunday. For now, a positional switch appears unlikely, with both coaches backing Wirtz to thrive as a No.10.
