Fuel prices surge again

Petrol prices across Lagos and Ogun States have climbed to between N1,285 and N1,330 per litre while diesel surged to N1,800 per litre — up from N1,600 just days earlier — following fresh gantry price adjustments by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which raised its diesel wholesale price from N1,670 to N1,750 per litre effective September 1.

According to Tribune, the development has prompted several Lagos depot operators to suspend diesel sales while reassessing replacement costs against the new refinery benchmark.

Separately, Dangote Refinery threatened to restrict petrol sales to major marketers allegedly blending its products with substandard imports, warning such practices could compromise product quality and undermine consumer trust in domestically refined fuel.
