Fulham hold Liverpool to 0-0 draw for first point of season
Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool struggled to replicate the form that saw them beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the Champions League in midweek, according to Hayters, with Fulham causing problems throughout the match. Liverpool’s best chance in the first half fell to Victor Munoz, whose header struck the crossbar.
Bradley Barcola made his first Premier League start following his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain, but Liverpool could not create enough clear openings against a well-organised Fulham defence. Arbeloa’s side, who arrived at Anfield having lost their opening three league matches, showed ambition of their own and deservedly held on for a clean sheet.
The result leaves Liverpool unbeaten in the Premier League under Iraola, but with three draws from their opening four matches this season.
