FULL LIST: Nigerian lawyers disbarred, suspended in US over fraud, theft
Several Nigerian lawyers practising in the United States have faced suspension, disbarment and other disciplinary sanctions over alleged professional misconduct, fraud and theft.
Peoples Gazette reports that disciplinary records showed sanctions against lawyers including Alexander Akpodiete, Taiwo Agbaje, Cyril Chukwurah, Wilfred Aka and John Udo.
Some were accused of misappropriating clients’ funds, practising while suspended, dishonesty and failing to represent clients properly. Others, including Emeka Uyamadu, faced criminal convictions linked to their disbarment. The disciplinary actions occurred across several US jurisdictions and immigration tribunals, with some lawyers permanently barred from practising law.
