Six Nigerian Black Axe cultists have been extradited from South Africa to the United States over multimillion-dollar wire fraud and romance scams, according to a report by Peoples Gazette.

The extradition, announced Friday by South African authorities in collaboration with INTERPOL, comes five years after the country’s Hawks unit arrested them in a 2021 raid. Though their names were not officially disclosed, they were identified through a 2021 US Department of Justice document.

The suspects, all leaders of the Cape Town Zone of the Black Axe cult, include:
Perry Osagiede, 52
Enorense Izevbigie, 45
Franklyn Edosa Osagiede, 37
Osariemen Eric Clement, 35
Collins Owhofasa Otughwor, 37
Musa Mudashiru, 33

Most face charges of wire fraud conspiracy, aggravated identity theft and money laundering conspiracy. Investigations showed the men led the Cape Town Zone of Black Axe, a Benin City-headquartered organisation, and committed crimes spanning 2011 to 2021.
