Gary Neville urges Glazers to sell Manchester United immediately
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has urged the Glazer family to sell the club immediately, criticising their ownership amid growing concerns over the club’s direction under INEOS.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Neville made the comments on The Overlap following reports that the American owners were frustrated with INEOS’ decisions on and off the pitch.
“The Glazer family are over there in America, in Tampa, where they’re very popular and go to every game apparently, I hear. They’ve hardly been to Old Trafford in 20-odd years,” Neville said.
“They have to sell now, enough is enough. The club is in debt, you’ve not spent a penny on the stadium, you’re trying to borrow £2bn for a stadium that you don’t know how you’re going to borrow.”
United’s financial concerns have intensified, with reported debt approaching £1.3 billion despite record revenues of £677.6 million and losses of £43 million. Meanwhile, manager Michael Carrick faces scrutiny ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.
