Gunmen killed bus driver, kidnap 18 health students travelling from Sokoto to Oyo
Suspected terrorists have abducted about 18 students of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto State, who were travelling to their hometowns in Oyo State, with their bus driver reportedly killed.
According to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred within the past 48 hours while the students were travelling in a chartered bus to Oke-Ogun, particularly Igboho.
A youth leader from Oke-Ogun confirmed the incident, clarifying that the victims were not Usmanu Danfodiyo University students as initially reported.
“The driver was killed and all the students were kidnapped. They have reached the Mokwa side,” he said.
Sources said the driver was killed at the scene and buried on Saturday, while the students were taken away by the assailants.
The reported movement of the victims towards the Mokwa axis has heightened concern among relatives and residents.
The incident comes days after 19 corps members were reportedly abducted by gunmen in Imo State.
