‘He is a moral void’ — Christians lose faith in Trump
Some Christian voters in the United States are withdrawing their support for President Donald Trump over concerns about his conduct, the Iran war, Jeffrey Epstein files and allegations of corruption.
According to The Telegraph, growing dissatisfaction among religious conservatives could threaten Trump’s Republican Party ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Doug Pagitt, a Minneapolis pastor who founded Vote Common Good, said some longtime Republican voters were reconsidering their loyalty.
“I find him to be a moral void,” Pagitt said.
“I don’t think there is a moral centre to him or a moral frame. He’s just a transactional person that tries to get the most he can out of people,” he added.
The report cited polling showing Trump’s approval among white evangelical Protestants falling from 78 percent in January 2025 to 58 percent in October 2026.
Criticism has also followed Trump’s handling of the Epstein files and his administration’s military campaign against Iran, despite his previous promises to avoid foreign conflicts.
