FG announces 24-hour closure of third mainland bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge is set for a temporary shutdown, as announced by the Federal Ministry of Works. The closure, slated to begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 28, and end at 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024, aims to facilitate crucial rehabilitation efforts on the bridge.

In a statement issued by Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, motorists were notified of the impending closure. The statement highlighted the necessity of temporarily halting traffic on both bounds of the bridge to enable the contractor to execute a significant phase of the ongoing repair works effectively.

During this 24-hour period, the Third Mainland Bridge will remain inaccessible to motorists. To mitigate inconvenience, all road users are urged to seek alternative routes. Additionally, motorists are encouraged to cooperate with deployed traffic management officials to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions.

This temporary closure underscores the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure the safety and longevity of critical infrastructure, while also emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in achieving seamless transportation operations.
