Historic FIFA Debut: Pakistan joins expanded U15 festival in Azerbaijan
Pakistan is among 78 FIFA Member Associations set to make their historic debut at a FIFA World Cup event during the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, according to a report by The Nation. The six-day tournament, scheduled from October 24 to 30 in Baku, Azerbaijan, brings together 189 member associations to promote youth development, global exposure, and enjoyment.
None of the 78 debutant nations have previously featured in any FIFA World Cup competition at any age level. Designed for players born in 2011 or 2012, the festival features an inclusive 8-a-side format played across two 20-minute halves on smaller pitches.
Every team will remain active throughout the event to maximize match experience. Matches will primarily take place at the Hovsan Competition Complex, with the Baku Crystal Hall hosting the opening ceremony and tier finals. Following the boys’ inaugural tournament, a girls’ edition is planned for 2027, before annual boys’ and girls’ events commence in 2028.
