House to house slaughter: 24 killed as gunmen attack sleeping residents in Plateau’s Mangu LGA
At least 24 people have been killed and several others injured after heavily armed gunmen stormed Binper community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State overnight, moving house to house and attacking residents in their sleep.
“They were moving from house to house, opening the doors of people who were sleeping and slaughtering them,” eyewitness Daniel Musa said.
Vanguard reports that the Mwaghavul Youth Movement confirmed the death toll, adding that homes were set ablaze and crops destroyed. The group expressed “deep grief, anger and profound dissatisfaction,” questioning the effectiveness of security architecture meant to protect vulnerable communities.
Security operatives were deployed to the community to restore calm. No security agency had officially commented at press time.
