How ‘FIFA agent’ pastor collected N4.7m, left Nigerian footballer stranded in Egypt

A Nigerian family paid ₦4.7 million to a self-styled FIFA agent who promised their son, Mahmood Lasisi, football training and a professional trial in Egypt, only for the arrangement to collapse, according to a Sahara Reporters investigation.

Musa, identified as a pastor in Jos, Plateau State, was introduced to the family by Dr Ejembi Emmanuel, who later served as guarantor. The player, Mahmood Lasisi, travelled to Egypt on July 13, 2026, but his promised three-month visa became one month, and the professional trial never materialised. He was instead taken to a facility housing other stranded Nigerian footballers before returning home on August 13 when his visa expired.

Mahmood’s mother, Lasisi Risikat Abidemi, an NDLEA Deputy Commander, said a partner in Egypt, Abass Elhag, seized her son’s remaining feeding money, and that Ejembi later suggested converting her refund demand into school fees instead. Documents reviewed by SaharaReporters indicate several other Nigerian players may be similarly stranded in Cairo. Musa and Ejembi had not responded to the allegations as of press time.
