Iker Casillas withdraws sons from Real Madrid Academy over frustrations
Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has decided to withdraw his two sons, Martin and Lucas, from the club’s youth academy, according to a report by Madrid Universal.
Both children had been developing as goalkeepers within La Fabrica, following in the footsteps of their father.
However, the decision to remove them is reportedly driven by sporting reasons after Martin, the elder of the two boys, lost prominence within his age group and missed out on an international call-up.
The move also coincides with Casillas’ historically strained relationship with the Real Madrid hierarchy. The former captain has frequently clashed with club leadership, including supporting opposition candidates during presidential elections and taking public swipes at board decisions.
Both boys are now expected to seek new destinations to continue their football development elsewhere.
