Imo Police Inspector found tied, murdered at commissioner’s residence
A police inspector, Henry Effiong, attached to the Imo State Police Command, has been murdered while on guard duty at the residence of Trade and Investment Commissioner, Bar Rex Anunobi, in New Owerri.
According to SaharaReporters, Effiong was found dead in his room on Monday, September 14, with his legs tied and a suspected machete wound. His service rifle and other belongings were reportedly stolen.
Police suspect that a security guard, identified as Genesis, may have facilitated the attackers’ entry before fleeing. An empty magazine and walkie-talkie were recovered, while investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
