Inside the trial that gave ex-minister Mamman a historic 75-year sentence
Former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman has been sentenced to a record 75 years in prison after being convicted of laundering ₦33.8 billion meant for Nigeria’s Mambilla and Zungeru hydropower projects.
According to Premium Times, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Omotosho, ordered his 12 sentences to run consecutively rather than concurrently, making it Nigeria’s stiffest corruption sentence to date.
Mamman, who fled after conviction, was later re-arrested by the EFCC in Kaduna and remains standing trial in a separate ₦31 billion fraud case.
