Inter Miami appoint Lionel Messi’s former teammate Kily Gonzalez as new coach
Inter Miami have appointed former Argentina international Cristian “Kily” Gonzalez as their new head coach, replacing Guillermo Hoyos after a disappointing run of results according to Goal.com. The 52-year-old, who was a teammate of Lionel Messi during Argentina’s 2005 World Cup qualifying campaign, will take charge once he receives the necessary work permits.
Until then, Hoyos will remain temporarily in charge. Gonzalez arrives with previous coaching experience in Argentina, having managed Rosario Central, Union de Santa Fe and Platense, while his playing career included spells at Valencia and Inter Milan. His appointment comes as Miami look to end a five-match winless streak and revive their MLS title charge.
