Investigation: APC, Accord blew N100bn above legal limit in Osun election
The All Progressives Congress and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Accord party deployed over N100bn during the August 15 Osun governorship election, Saturday PUNCH reports.
Funds were channelled into campaign materials, vote buying, and payments to agents, canvassers, security personnel and electoral officers across 3,763 polling units and 332 wards, exceeding the N3bn spending limit set by the Electoral Act 2026.
Investigations revealed APC agents were paid N100,000 each while Accord agents received N20,000, with vote buying reportedly reaching N80,000 per voter in some units. Adeleke defeated APC’s Bola Oyebamiji with 511,067 votes to 444,815.
