INVESTIGATION: Inside the multi-million dollar Norwegian scam and a Nigerian’s alleged role

A joint investigation by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and Premium Times has linked David Erubure, a web developer in Warri, Delta State, to a multi-million-dollar fraud network exploiting Norwegian TikTok users. Scammers impersonated an influencer, Mi Le Hagen, directing followers to fake crypto investment sites.

Ethical hacker Daniel Christensen traced over 300 fraudulent websites, some sharing code with StoreVase, a platform linked to Erubure’s company, iSkySoftic. Analysts found crypto addresses tied to the scam received roughly $74 million (about ₦100 billion). Erubure denied involvement in fraud, though he admitted the web host belongs to his firm and that an “Eagleworker” identity, seen across multiple scam sites, may be linked to him. He has not been charged, and no Nigerian agency is confirmed to be investigating him.
