Iran threatens to attack US military bases over Strait of Hormuz escorts
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have threatened to attack American military bases across the Middle East if the United States continues escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Vanguard, the warning was issued Thursday in a statement published on the Guards’ Sepah News website.
“The US military must know that if this trend continues, the conflict will extend to its bases in the region,” the statement read.
“This is a serious warning,” the Guards added.
Iran claims control over the strategic waterway, through which approximately one-fifth of global oil supplies passed before the war began in February.
The warning followed increased American naval escorts and Iranian attacks on vessels navigating the strait.
Iranian forces claimed four ships were struck overnight while attempting to cross the Gulf.
Meanwhile, Washington continues its naval blockade of Iranian ports amid stalled negotiations.
The escalating tensions have raised fresh concerns about regional security and disruptions to global energy supplies.
