Iran war will end after midterms, gas prices will drop — Trump
President Donald Trump said Wednesday he expects Iran to abandon its war effort after the US midterm elections, according to CNN. Speaking to reporters en route to a GOP convention in Dallas, Trump argued Iran would prolong the conflict into November to damage him politically, though he conceded gas prices would likely not fall before the midterms. He said Iran is “near collapse” and would seek an end to the war “immediately after the election.”
Global oil prices topped $100 a barrel amid intensified fighting, pushing US gas prices up 7.3 cents on Wednesday to $4.22 per gallon, the largest daily jump since May. Diesel prices hit a record $5.94 per gallon. Trump dismissed political fallout concerns, insisting Americans support the offensive against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
