Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool welcomed Fabian Hürzeler’s in-form Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield in a high-stakes Premier League clash, with the Seagulls riding an eight-game unbeaten run.

Despite intense second-half pressure from the visitors, Liverpool made it four straight victories across all competitions thanks to an explosive opening spell.

An early strike by Florian Wirtz deflected heavily off Pascal Groß into the net before Bradley Barcola set up Alexander Isak for a swift second to secure a hard-fought 2-0 home victory.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Alisson Becker (5/10): Looked uncharacteristically nervous during the opening 45 minutes and nearly conceded following a misplaced pass inside his own box.

Ronald Araújo (7/10): Showed great determination down the right flank, fighting off two tackles to set up the opening goal sequence.

Jérémy Jacquet (7/10): Maintained his strong central defensive partnership with Van Dijk, turning in another composed backline performance.

Virgil van Dijk (7/10): Led the defensive unit with typical composure and authority to keep Brighton’s attackers at bay.

Milos Kerkez (6/10): Brought great energy and work rate down the left side, though his impact faded as Brighton dominated the second half.

Ryan Gravenberch (6/10): Provided a physical presence and energy in the middle of the park after returning from his domestic suspension.

Florian Wirtz (6/10): Forced the opening goal via a heavy deflection off Pascal Groß, but his afternoon was cut short after picking up a first-half injury.

Cody Gakpo (5/10): Was heavily involved in Liverpool’s attacking moves but lacked composure in the final third, letting several good opportunities slip.

Alexander Isak (7/10): Showed clinical instincts by tapping home Liverpool’s second goal, demonstrating sharp movement inside the box despite limited touches overall.

Bradley Barcola (8/10): The standout performer at Anfield. Pounced on a loose ball and showed great vision to set up Isak’s goal, posing a threat all game.

Substitutes

Trey Nyoni (6/10): Replaced the injured Wirtz and worked hard to break up play and restore structure in midfield.

Lewis Koumas (6/10): Came on late and offered a threat in transition by stretching Brighton’s defensive line.
