ISWAP, Boko Haram faction clash, seven senior commanders killed
A coordinated ISWAP ambush on a rival Boko Haram faction has killed seven senior commanders and destroyed key operational bases in Borno State, as separate bandit attacks in Sokoto left 39 dead and 37 kidnapped across 19 displaced communities.
As reported by The Guardian Nigeria, ISWAP fighters struck a JAS faction around Bula Murge in Bama Local Council Area, killing commanders including Abu Ubaida, Modu Kori and Zarkawi, while burning their camps at Bula Murge and Nguro Bafuye and forcing surviving fighters into disarray.
In Sokoto, Senator Aminu Tambuwal condemned renewed bandit attacks across Kebbe, Shagari and Sabon Birni councils, mourning slain police officer ASP Hussaini Balarabe. Residents accused federal and northern political leaders of inaction. Security forces have been urged to sustain pressure on both insurgent factions to prevent regrouping.
