JAMB clarifies meaning of ‘not admitted’, ‘admission in progress’
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified the meanings of “Not Admitted,” “Admission in Progress” and “Admitted” statuses displayed on candidates’ Central Admissions Processing System, according to Punch Newspapers.
In an explainer video shared Thursday, JAMB said “Not Admitted” means a candidate has not yet been offered admission, though it doesn’t rule out future admission. “Admission in Progress” indicates an institution has proposed a candidate, but the process awaits further approval from the head of institution or JAMB itself.
The board cautioned that this status does not guarantee automatic admission, as offers can still be disapproved if candidates fail to meet requirements. Candidates become “Admitted” only after JAMB officially approves the offer, allowing them to accept or reject it via CAPS.
