JAMB fires employee for extorting candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed a staff member for extorting unsuspecting candidates, warning employees against misconduct capable of undermining its operations.

According to PUNCH, JAMB announced the dismissal in its bulletin on Monday, saying the action demonstrated its commitment to eliminating fraud within the organisation.

The board did not disclose the identity of the affected employee but said its zero-tolerance policy on corruption applied to all staff, regardless of position or status.

JAMB warned employees against exploiting candidates and members of the public, stressing that violations would attract severe sanctions under established rules.

The examination body said it would not shield employees who abused their positions, adding that efforts to sanitise admission and examination processes must begin internally.
