Jamie Vardy joins Burnley on short-term deal

Former Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy has joined Burnley until the end of the season, returning to English football at the age of 39. BBC Sport reported that Vardy left Cremonese in the summer after moving to Italy in 2025.

The veteran forward is Leicester’s record Premier League scorer with 145 goals and netted 200 times in 500 appearances across all competitions during his 13-year spell with the Foxes. Burnley, relegated from the Premier League last season, are bottom of the Championship and remain winless after five matches under manager Nicky Hayen. Vardy said he was eager to help the club move in the right direction.
