JD Vance: U.S. must be careful regulating AI as China competition heats up
Vice President JD Vance says he is wary of leading AI companies asking the federal government to regulate the industry, calling it a potential “Trojan horse” as tech executives warn about the risks of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence.
“I feel a little bit weird about the fact that you have so many frontier AI tech companies kind of coming to the government and begging the government to regulate them,” Vance says. He acknowledged there are “risks” and “downsides” to AI but said the U.S. must be careful about regulation as it competes with China.
