Jeff Bezos buys minority stake in Liverpool as FSG retains control
According to Sky Sports, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has become a minority investor in Liverpool through a consortium led by Amit Bhatia. The deal, which values the Premier League club at around £6bn, will see the group acquire approximately 30 per cent of Liverpool.
Bhatia, son-in-law of steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, will serve as vice-chair, while Bezos will not join the board. FSG will retain majority ownership and control of the club. Sky Sports reports that the agreement could provide the consortium with an option to pursue majority ownership in future, although no such transaction is guaranteed.
