JJ Gabriel submits request to quit Manchester United

Manchester United have been hit by a surprise development after highly rated academy prospect JJ Gabriel formally requested to leave the club.

According to The Telegraph, the 15-year-old has submitted formal notice of his intention to cancel his registration with immediate effect.

Gabriel, widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in English football and nicknamed “Kid Messi”, has been at Manchester United since the age of 11.

The teenager’s request comes just days after he scored a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut, further raising expectations surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

United had reportedly been preparing to involve Gabriel in the squad for their upcoming League Cup fixture against Brighton. However, his decision not to train has cast doubt over his immediate involvement.

Gabriel is not yet eligible to sign a professional contract and does not turn 16 until October 6. He also reportedly has no immediate plans to join another club.

Manchester United are understood to remain hopeful of resolving the situation and retaining the highly rated academy prospect.
