Journalist accuses paper of slapping her name on AI article without her knowledge…
A Cleveland.com government reporter, Kaitlin Durbin, has accused the news outlet of publishing an AI-generated article under her byline without her knowledge or consent while she was on her honeymoon.
Futurism reports that the article, produced by the “Cleveland.com Express Desk” which uses AI tools, covered the resignation of Cuyahoga County’s law director. Durbin said she “did not write or review a word of it” before publication.
“Does Cleveland.com think they just own my name now?” she wrote on X. The article has since been updated to remove her name, with a correction noting the byline was “added in error.” It now carries no byline at all.
Cleveland.com editor Chris Quinn had earlier defended the outlet’s AI news desk, calling AI “the future” of journalism.
