Judge spares young drug dealer jail time over his youthful look

A Queensland man, Hamish Craig Larnach, 20, has been spared jail after Justice Soraya Ryan of the Brisbane Supreme Court said his youthful appearance would likely attract unwanted attention behind bars.

According to a Daily Mail report, Larnach was arrested in 2024 after selling an undercover officer about $700 worth of MDMA via Telegram, with a follow-up raid uncovering more drugs and paraphernalia.

He pleaded guilty to supplying and possessing drugs and received a two-year sentence, wholly suspended. Justice Ryan cited his age, lack of prior record, and evidence of rehabilitation and employment in her ruling.
