Kane inspired by Messi and Ronaldo as Bayern star targets Ballon d’Or
Harry Kane has admitted he is “amazed” to have surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s best single-season scoring tally as the Bayern Munich striker strengthens his case for the Ballon d’Or. According to GOAL, Kane scored 73 goals for club and country last season, exceeding Ronaldo’s previous best of 69, with only Lionel Messi’s 82-goal campaign ahead of him. The England captain said the numbers once seemed impossible while watching Messi and Ronaldo dominate world football.
Kane, 33, is also drawing inspiration from the longevity of Messi, Ronaldo and Luka Modrić as he targets more years at the highest level. Although his Ballon d’Or fate is now in the hands of voters, Kane remains focused on improving and winning more trophies with Bayern Munich and England. Bayern began their Bundesliga campaign with a 5-1 win over Stuttgart and a goalless draw against Schalke.
