La Liga explains why Real Madrid’s salary limit has risen to €832.8 million
Real Madrid have retained their status as La Liga’s biggest spenders after their salary cap was raised to €832.8 million, the highest limit among the division’s 20 clubs. La Liga corporate director Javier Gomez explained the increase stems from a rule allowing financially healthy clubs to tap into savings accumulated in previous seasons, according to Madrid Universal, via Mundo Deportivo.
Gomez clarified that qualifying clubs can request up to a 25% increase, though being authorised to use that capacity doesn’t mean it will all be spent. Madrid’s rise reflects their strong financial standing rather than any special concession from the league. The extra flexibility comes as Madrid continue major financial commitments, including Vinicius Jr’s summer renewal, alongside ongoing talks to extend Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham’s contracts.
