Lab-made DNA can store memory like flash drive…
Researchers have developed a memory device that combines synthetic DNA with a semiconductor to create a more efficient “memristor,” according to a report by Popular Science.
The team, led by materials scientist Kavya Keremane at Penn State University, engineered DNA strands doped with silver nanoparticles and integrated them into perovskite semiconductor films.
The resulting device reportedly uses 100 times less power than conventional storage while holding more data, operating on under 0.1 volt and remaining stable at high temperatures.
The findings, published in Advanced Functional Materials, could support future low-power storage technologies amid rising demand for artificial intelligence.
