Two reasons why some women can’t orgasm – and it’s not always to do with men

Sometimes women can struggle to hit the Big O.

And, though it should never be the end goal of sex, for some people it’s really important. Even so, there can be reasons why some women struggle to orgasm.

There’s something called orgasmic disorder which, according to the Mayo Clinic, refers to “delayed, infrequent or absent orgasms – or significantly less-intense orgasms – after sexual arousal and adequate sexual stimulation.”

To be diagnosed with the condition, you obvisouly have to admit you struggle with orgasm, which isn’t easy for some women to do. Not to mention, between 10% and 15% of women have never had an orgasm, and some even think it’s just not possible for them.

But sex and relationship therapist Deb Laino, author of The Missing Link: A Fusion of Sexuality, Psychology, Lifespan Development and You, claims orgasmic disorder only usually happens after someone experiences severe stress from their inability to reach climax.

She told Yahoo Life: “If someone’s in a relationship and they have really low desire, and it doesn’t cause any problems in the relationship, we wouldn’t make a diagnosis with that. A problem is only a problem if it causes marked distress.”
