Leo Messi returns after Father’s death as Inter Miami exit Leagues Cup

Lionel Messi returned to Inter Miami following the death of his father, Jorge Messi, but could not prevent a 3-2 defeat to Club Leon in the Leagues Cup on Wednesday. According to Arise News, Messi came on at halftime after starting on the bench.

Inter Miami initially led through Dániel Pintér before Club Leon fought back, with Daniel Arcila scoring twice alongside Yannick Bright’s goal for Miami and Juan Domínguez’s equaliser. The defeat ended Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup campaign after one win and two losses. Messi had travelled to Argentina following his father’s death at 68.
