Lionel Messi reaches verbal agreement to buy Spanish second-tier club Eldense
Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to acquire Spanish Segunda Division club Eldense, according to Diario AS. The Argentine superstar is expected to purchase 100 per cent of the club’s shares, with an official announcement potentially coming in the coming days.
Messi’s legal representatives have reportedly been negotiating with Colombian investment group TH, led by Juan Carlos Trujillo, which bought Eldense from Pascual Pérez last year. The proposed takeover will still require due diligence and approval from Spain’s National Sports Council. Messi has already invested in third-tier side Cornella and could now expand his involvement in Spanish football as he considers his post-playing career.
