Liverpool overtakes Chelsea as world’s most expensive squad, CIES reveals
Liverpool have overtaken Chelsea to become the club with the most expensive squad in world football, according to the latest ranking from the CIES Football Observatory. The figures, reported by Inside World Football, measure the actual transfer costs clubs paid to assemble their current squads rather than estimated player market values. Liverpool’s rise comes after a major summer recruitment drive, with the club also moving three places higher than their position in the previous year.
