Liverpool player ratings vs Arsenal: Alisson’s costly mistake proves decisive in Anfield defeat

Share:

Liverpool suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday, November 1, with Kai Havertz’s first-half goal separating the two sides. The Reds started brightly but were punished after Alisson Becker’s misplaced pass gifted Arsenal possession in a dangerous position.

Despite creating several opportunities, including Florian Wirtz’s free-kick against the crossbar and Alexis Mac Allister’s missed header, Arne Slot’s side failed to find an equaliser.

Arsenal defended resolutely after the break to claim a crucial victory and move above Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool player ratings

Alisson Becker – 5/10

Alisson made a couple of useful saves but his poor pass directly contributed to Arsenal’s winning goal. His distribution remained unconvincing throughout the contest.

Ronald Araujo – 6/10

Araujo made several important challenges and was generally reliable defensively. However, he offered little attacking support and was caught out when Havertz scored.

Jeremy Jacquet – 5/10Jacquet produced a reasonably composed performance, dealing with Havertz’s movement for much of the game. He was also comfortable in possession despite the defeat.

Virgil van Dijk – 6/10

The Liverpool captain helped initiate attacks with his distribution from defence. Although occasionally stretched by Arsenal’s forwards, he delivered a respectable performance.

Milos Kerkez – 5/10

Kerkez struggled to contain Madueke down the flank and contributed little offensively. His crosses frequently failed to beat Arsenal’s defenders, while a booking added to his difficult afternoon.

Trey Nyoni – 6/10

Making his first Premier League start, Nyoni showed plenty of enthusiasm but was initially guilty of some unnecessary fouls. He gradually improved as the game developed.

Alexis Mac Allister – 7/10

Mac Allister was Liverpool’s most effective midfielder, growing into the contest after a quiet beginning. However, his missed free header was a costly opportunity.

Florian Wirtz – 6/10

Wirtz showed flashes of his technical quality and came agonisingly close to scoring with a powerful free-kick that struck the crossbar before half-time.

Bradley Barcola – 7/10

Barcola troubled Arsenal with his pace and direct running. However, a heavy touch wasted a promising opportunity to equalise, leaving Liverpool frustrated.

Cody Gakpo – 6/10

Gakpo worked hard to press Arsenal’s defenders but struggled to make a consistent attacking impact. His influence improved slightly as Liverpool pushed forward.

Alexander Isak – 6/10

Isak offered a physical presence in attack and came close to making decisive contact with several deliveries. He also had a penalty appeal rejected.

Substitutes

Dominik Szoboszlai – 7/10

Introduced shortly before the hour mark, Szoboszlai improved Liverpool’s midfield control and helped the hosts sustain pressure during the closing stages.

Rio Ngumoha – 7/10

Ngumoha brought fresh energy after coming on and attempted to unsettle Arsenal’s defence. His direct approach created problems down the left flank.

Kostas Tsimikas – 6/10

Tsimikas entered during the final 10 minutes and pushed forward as Liverpool searched desperately for an equaliser. He helped maintain their attacking pressure.

Victor Munoz – 6/10

Munoz looked lively after his introduction and tried to inject urgency into Liverpool’s attack. However, he could not produce the breakthrough the hosts needed.

Lewis Koumas – 6/10

Koumas was introduced late and found some promising positions in the attacking third. Unfortunately, he could not turn those opportunities into a decisive contribution.
